Position Overview
Trinity Healthcare Talent Services is hiring a Travel Physical Therapist (PT) for an acute care hospital setting in Port Charlotte FL.
This role involves working across inpatient acute care and rehab units providing comprehensive physical therapy services to a diverse patient population.
Facility Information
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
- Total Beds: 253
- Inpatient Rehab Unit: 20 Beds
- EMR System: Meditech
- Staffing: 20 PT caregivers
- Patient Volume: 910 patients/day
Clinical Setting
Therapists will work across:
- Acute inpatient units (Med/Surg ICU general care)
- Inpatient rehabilitation unit
- Multi-floor hospital coverage
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Perform PT evaluations and treatments
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Provide mobility training strengthening and rehab interventions
- Treat conditions such as:
- Post-surgical recovery
- Neurological disorders
- Cardiopulmonary conditions
- General deconditioning
Caseload & Workflow
- Manage 910 patients per day
- Maintain 75% productivity standard
- Work with interdisciplinary rehab team (PT OT SLP)
Clinical Skills
- Acute care therapy
- Mobility and transfer training
- Use of hospital mobility equipment
- ICU-level patient handling (preferred)
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records using Meditech EMR
- Track progress and adjust care plans accordingly
Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Physicians
- Nurses
- Rehab team (PT/OT/SLP)
- Participate in care coordination
Scheduling & Requirements
- Day shift: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
- Weekend rotation required (every other weekend)
- Holiday rotation with staff
- Facility-based scheduling
Required Qualifications
Active Florida PT License
Degree in Physical Therapy (MPT/DPT)
Acute care experience (MANDATORY)
BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Meditech experience
ICU experience
Strong communication & teamwork skills
