Job Title: Senior Programmer
Location: Sacramento CA. Hybrid 3 days per week onsite
Duration: From July 1 2026 through June 30 2028.

Job Description:

The consultant will serve as an expert-level Application Developer for the myCalPERS (MCP) system. Working within the Enterprise Solutions Development Division (ESDD) the developer will lead efforts to enhance enterprise systems and sub-systems through the full software development lifecycle supporting both waterfall and agile delivery methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Analysis & Design: Lead detailed analysis and functional design efforts; participate in Joint Application Requirements (JAR) and Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions with stakeholders and SMEs.
Development & Implementation: Perform application development and coding for system enhancements.
Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews provide guidance on programming best practices and perform triaging and testing activities to support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain technical artifacts document technical processes and provide regular status reporting.
Knowledge Transfer: Ensure all work details are documented and transferred to state personnel through collaborative documentation code commenting and job shadowing.

Technical Skills Required:

Primary Language: Expert-level Java programming.
Frameworks: Proficiency in CalPERS-approved frameworks.
Methodologies: Experience with Waterfall and Agile delivery.
Tools/Processes: * Unit assembly and system testing.
- Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) management.
- Root cause analysis and defect triaging.
Security: Knowledge of industry standards regarding malware phishing 2FA and web/email protection.
