Position Summary
Provides instructional services for Adult Education Firefighter and Advanced Firefighter training programs. Responsible for delivering classroom and practical instruction aligned with state standards ensuring student competency safety and compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions
- Instruct adult learners in Firefighter I Firefighter II and Advanced Firefighter coursework using approved curriculum frameworks.
- Deliver classroom laboratory and hands-on practical training.
- Evaluate student knowledge skills and performance in accordance with program requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance grades skills completion and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training requirements and institutional policies.
- Enforce safety standards during all instructional activities.
- Prepare instructional materials lesson plans and assessments as required.
- Communicate student progress concerns and instructional needs to program administration.
- Participate in meetings training and professional development as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- State of Florida Firefighter II certification.
- Fire Service Instructor certification or ability to obtain within an approved timeframe.
- Professional experience in the fire service.
- Knowledge of current fire service practices safety standards and instructional methods.
- Advanced Firefighter certifications and/or specialty rescue certifications.
- Prior experience teaching adult learners in a fire academy or similar training environment.
- Experience with skills evaluations and state certification processes.
- Ability to demonstrate and supervise physically demanding fire service skills.
- Ability to safely operate fire service training equipment.
- Flexible part-time schedule including evenings and weekends based on program needs.
- Hourly rate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
