A unique opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Headteacher with expertise in English at an Alternative Provision school in Thurrock. This full-time long-term position is ideal for someone passionate about re-engaging students with education and raising literacy standards across the curriculum.Youll play a key leadership role in shaping the schools English provision and improving academic outcomes for students who thrive in a more supportive and individualised learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on curriculum development and delivery in English across the school
Support colleagues with literacy-focused strategies and inclusive teaching practices
Monitor progress in English and implement targeted interventions
Work as part of the senior leadership team to drive whole-school improvement
Manage staff and contribute to CPD and performance management
Collaborate with external agencies and support services to ensure student success
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong track record of teaching English ideally in an AP or SEN setting
Experience in a leadership role or readiness to take the next step
Deep understanding of barriers to learning and strategies for re-engagement
Excellent leadership teamwork and communication skills
