Corporate Counsel
Job Summary
Corporate Counsel supports the companys legal operations in a variety of matters with a focus that includes general corporate matters regulatory and compliance matters insurance vendor contract negotiations internal corporate policies and procedures along with drafting and negotiating other transactional matters.
Responsibilities other duties as assigned:
Overseeing construction and infrastructure/energy related legal matters
Negotiating and drafting energy and vendor contracts as well as various other transactional matters
Assisting with legal and regulatory compliance
Assisting with compliance with various domestic and international privacy laws
Assisting with management of the Companys insurance program and operations
Assisting with a variety of other legal functions such as loans joint ventures acquisitions general corporate matters real estate intellectual property protection tax abatement litigation etc.;
Managing collections on customer accounts
Performing a broad range of legal matters and general business matters based on the needs of the company as assigned.
Working with and managing outside counsel counter-parties insurers and other third parties as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Qualified solicitor with strong academic credentials and currently registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority
Three or more years of legal experience as a practicing lawyer working in a construction/infrastructure transactional practice
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Hands-on self-starter who is disciplined and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting that requires a highly accurate and timely work product;
Agile and versatile; comfortable with new and unfamiliar subject matter; easily adaptable to change;
Able to take initiative with no direction;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Strong listening organizational and interpersonal skills;
Strong work ethic and accountability to deadlines;
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint Outlook Excel) Box Workday DocuSign;
Excellent analytical time-management judgment and decision-making skills;
Possess ambition and an optimistic attitude;
Ability to effectively multitask and manage competing priorities and demands on time;
Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills;
Strong integrity and independence of mind with the ability to deliver difficult messages clearly and sensitively;
Ability to effectively manage others including outside counsel and service providers.
