Are you excited about this Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Partners in Recovery job

As a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Partners in Recovery program at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board you will play a vital role in assisting our staff psychiatrist with the prescription administration and monitoring of client medications. Your responsibilities will include performing routine physical and mental health nursing assessments administering prescribed medications and providing supportive counseling to enhance our clients recovery journey. With a thorough knowledge of the characteristics and precautions associated with methadone administration you will also monitor clients medical needs and conduct drug testing and other medical screenings. Your expertise will ensure compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances while your ability to maintain accurate client medical records will facilitate effective treatment outcomes.

Join us in providing comprehensive outpatient counseling medication management and medication-assisted treatment services tailored to adults experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

To excel as a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Partners in Recovery program you must possess a combination of technical skills and interpersonal abilities. Your knowledge of medications commonly prescribed in mental health and substance abuse treatment is critical along with a strong understanding of supportive counseling practices and the behavioral characteristics of individuals facing these challenges. Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with regulations related to controlled substances will be essential.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing with one year of experience in the administration of medication or in a substance abuse treatment psychiatric setting or long term care facility including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
  • Valid Drivers License
