About the Role
Local Education are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a thriving secondary school in Bury St Edmunds. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them reach their full potential in the classroom.
The role involves providing one-to-one and small-group support to students with a range of learning needs including Special Educational Needs (SEN) Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and general classroom support. Youll work closely with teachers pastoral staff and the SEN department to ensure students feel supported confident and able to access learning effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Provide in-class support for students identified with additional learning or behavioural needs.
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored interventions and differentiated work.
Build strong relationships with students to foster engagement and confidence.
Support students with literacy numeracy and social development.
Assist in monitoring student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Help maintain a positive inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and participation.
Requirements
Experience working with young people in an educational or care environment (school-based experience preferred).
A patient empathetic and resilient approach to supporting learners.
Ability to build rapport and encourage positive behaviour.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one through Local Education).
