The City of Topeka is seeking a general facility and equipment maintenance mechanic to perform semi-skilled building equipment and ground construction repair and maintenance tasks on a variety of city-owned assets and facilities.
This position works Monday through Friday 7:00 AM 3:30 PM.
What youll do:
- Inspect buildings machinery and equipment to identify the need for repair and maintenance activities.
- Carpentry work is to repair buildings facilities and equipment.
- Plumbing repair and maintenance duties such as replacement of exposed pipe sinks and tanks and unclogging drains.
- Repair and maintenance of electrical equipment.
The ideal candidate possesses any combination of the following traits:
- A basic knowledge of mechanics and/or plumbing hand tools.
- Is a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced changing work environment.
- Has knowledge of standard safety practices hazards and precautions
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with three years of experience in building mechanical construction or grounds maintenance work required.
- Must Possess and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license and city -insurable driving record. Please review the Insurability Guidelines.
- Field technician experience with a licensed HVAC contractor and two years of supervisory experience is desirable.
Entry rate of pay: $18.71 $19.61 per hour depending on qualifications
