Job Summary:
EOP Student Assistants help create impactful relationships and foster a supportive environment for our EOP student population at Cal Poly Maritime Academy. The main objective of the Student Assistant role is to provide support to professional EOP staff with the intent to shape a community-oriented atmosphere and instill a sense of belonging in our students. Responsibilities include participating fully in EOP Summer Bridge planning and facilitating workshops and events within the academic year providing individual and group advising making referrals to campus resources as appropriate collaborating with EOP professional staff and relevant campus partners - to support student needs and abiding by campus policies and standards.
Student Assistants are also expected to attend a training orientation in late March - mid April on-campus and fully participate in EOP Summer Bridge in late-August. Student Assistants will be able to move in early and live on-campus in the residence hall for the purpose of participating in Summer Bridge unless excused by the EOP Coordinator. Meals will also be provided to Student Assistants during the duration of the program.
*Priority is given to EOP students in good academic standing.
About the Cal Poly Maritime Academy:
California Polytechnic State University Maritime Academy is an affiliate campus of the California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo and is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on the scenic Vallejo waterfront the campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students.
Cal Poly Maritime Academy offers seven baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration International Strategy and Security Facilities Engineering Technology Marine Engineering Technology Mechanical EngineeringMarine Transportation and Oceanography. The undergraduate curriculum includes licensing programs for future merchant marine coast guard and naval reserve officers. Cal Poly Maritime Academy also offers a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses.

Supplemental Information
Background Check: Satisfactory completion of a background checkis required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

All employment positions previously associated with California State University Maritime Academy have transitioned to California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo.
