The Opportunity:
We are seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant at the Yonge Street Mission Davis Centre Daycare location for 20 to 24 hours per week (5 days/week). If you enjoy working in a kitchen alongside staff and children then this is your opportunity. You will develop skills in working in a kitchen environment as well as building relationships with staff parents and children. We believe that cultivating a place where children can thrive is important and making sure they are fed with healthy nutritious food will support their grow and development.
Responsibilities:
- Daily duties will include: heating food assembling snacks cutting fruit/vegetables portioning the food and delivering the food to the classrooms. This includes children with special dietary needs.
- Ensure safe food storage and disposal including maintaining temperature logs.
- Comply with all public health regulations within best practices for daycares.
- Follow proper washing and sanitizing procedures for all dishware after collection from classrooms.
- Upkeep kitchen cleaning schedule including dishwashing daily weekly and monthly duties.
- Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time to meet the needs of the daycare centre.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education.
- Good English communication skills both oral and written.
- Good interpersonal skills conflict resolution skills and problem solving skills.
- Able to follow instructions.
- Must be 18 years old or older and able to commit to 20 to 24 hours a week.
- Food Handler Certification is required.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to YSMs principles of faith mission and values.
Compensation: Part-time position Pay:YSM will pay a starting rate of $20.83 an hour for this part-time rolecombined with a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks.
