JOB TITLE: Internal Communications Officer
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Consultant Level I

DUTY STATION (City Country): HQ Rome Italy
DURATION: 11 months


BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
WFP is undergoing significant change initiatives requiring robust internal communications to ensure staff are informed engaged and empowered. The Internal Communications Officer will support the Employee Communications Team in delivering effective communications around these initiatives fostering engagement and strengthening organizational culture.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop draft and disseminate engaging internal communications content (newsletters intranet articles digital campaigns) to support change initiatives.
Support planning and execution of employee engagement activities including events recognition programs and feedback mechanisms.
Maintain and update internal communications channels ensuring timely and relevant content about change initiatives.
Monitor staff feedback and engagement metrics to inform continuous improvement of change communications.
Collaborate with divisions and project teams to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging around change.
Assist in developing and delivering communications for change management including leadership messages FAQs and toolkits.
Support measurement and evaluation of communications and engagement activities related to change.
Maintain an editorial calendar and help organize communications projects for change initiatives.
Ensure all communications reflect WFPs values and strategic objectives.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Successful creation of content to support corporate initiatives;
- Successful implementation of engagement and communications initiatives to achieve a boost in staff activity on internal platforms;
- Successful support of internal campaigns for workplace culture.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: A Bachelors degree or a Masters degree in Communications Marketing Journalism International Relations or other relevant field.
Experience: At least 4 years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in communications direct experience in creative content creation for staff engagement and/or behaviour change communications is a strong asset.
Knowledge & skills:
- Knowledge of WFPs corporate culture and the UN system in general an asset. Strong content creation skills for a variety of platforms/formats ensuring consistency with our WFP brand and values Creative thinking and strong visual sense;
- Familiarity with design process and visualizing complex concepts Competent and confident use of Power Point MS Office;
- Experience with platforms such as SharePoint Teams Forms Yammer an asset; Experience with creative employee engagement initiatives an asset;
- Strong communications skills with ability to persuade influence negotiate with diverse stakeholders;
- Ability to work harmoniously with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
- Must work well independently and within a matrix team structure;
- Proactive and highly organized with strong time management and planning skills;
- Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

Languages: Excellent knowledge of English (level C) is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic Chinese French Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFPs working languages) is a plus.
