DescriptionCharlotte Latin School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School & Staff Educational Technologist to join our faculty beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time 11-month position offers the opportunity to work alongside teachers staff and students to ignite curiosity and inspire and support technology-infused learning. This position partners with the K-12 Educational Technology team to uphold the Educational Technology Teams mission: to inspire and support technology use that enhances and extends learning teaching individual development civility and service throughout the CLS community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with schoolwidestaff to help optimize the use of Google Workspace and other digital tools improving productivity technology integration and ensuring digital literacy for their roles.
- Partner with Middle School faculty to cultivate thoughtful creative and independent use of technology building enthusiasm for its role in teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify implement and evaluate effective technology solutions.
- Support faculty and staff in understanding systems workflows and best practices including safe legal and ethical technology use.
- Guide faculty in the effective use of the schools core educational technology platforms including the Learning Management System and Student Information System. Support staff in using these systems as needed.
- Communicate regularly with faculty and staff providing updates reminders and practical guidance related to educational technology.
- Lead annual onboarding and ongoing training for faculty staff and students on educational technology tools and systems.
- Partner with the Innovation & Design Department to ensure safe developmentally appropriate digital environments aligned with divisional policies.
- Serve as an active member of the K12 EdTech team by staying current on emerging tools and trends recommending new technologies supporting professional development and liaising with the Technology Services Department.
- Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning Educational Technologists and divisional leaders to design professional learning that strengthens teaching practice and student outcomes.
- Partner with Human Resources to design and implement professional learning for staff.
- Manage accounts permissions and settings for divisional educational technology tools.
- Review and evaluate requests for new tools providing informed recommendations to divisional leadership.
- Create distribute and execute Digital Wellness curriculum lessons (including AI Literacy/Fluency) for grades 6-8 in collaboration with the Dean of Student Support
- Oversee the annual budget for educational technology software and subscriptions.
- Partner with the Technology Department to develop policies streamline workflows and support purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with the Technology Department on the distribution and management of student devices.
- Support parent engagement by providing resources and programming on digital tools digital fluency and healthy use of technology at home.
- Teach one course as assigned.
- Perform other duties as needed.
QualificationsEducation/Experience
- Bachelors degree in a related field Masters preferred
- Five plus years of well-rounded experience in education with at least 3 years in the classroom ideally with Independent schools at the Middle School level
Necessary Skills
- An understanding of and appreciation for the developmental stages of middle school students
- Strong interpersonal skills and a preference for working collaboratively
- Ability to manage simultaneous projects effectively adapting priorities quickly.
- Expertise in Google applications and iPad technology is vital
Working Conditions and Environment
- Intermittently lift carry push and pull up to 25 pounds.
- Continuously see sit balance grasp and have repetitive use of arms wrists hands and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
- Frequently talk and hear.
- Intermittently stand stoop bend twist crouch kneel crawl walk climb stairs step stools and ladders operate foot and hand controls squeeze and reach above shoulders.
- Exposure to dust chemicals fumes flammables grease dirt stacked materials electrical equipment machinery low to medium noise levels and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
- Long or odd hours as needed.
