The Vice President of Delaware Valley Surgical Services serves as a strategic administrative leader responsible for the development integration and advancement of key clinical programs including the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine the Nemours Institute for Maternal Fetal Medicine and Perinatal Advanced Delivery Program the Department of Orthopedics and the Department of Surgery. This role is pivotal in driving innovation operational excellence and strategic growth across these departments.
Reporting directly to the Delaware Valley Surgeon-in-Chief with indirect accountability to the Delaware Valley President Sr VP Operations and matrixed relationships with the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Finance will lead all administrative operational and business functions of the departments and emerging institutes. This includes oversight of clinical research educational and financial initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with executive leadership and clinical stakeholders to establish long-term strategies optimize performance and ensure alignment with Nemours mission and enterprise goals.
Essential Functions
Fiscal Leadership
Partner with Finance Revenue Cycle Research Operations and Clinical Affairs to ensure sound fiscal management across hospital research and practice plan domains.
Oversee pricing billing and revenue optimization while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Develop and monitor productivity metrics (e.g. RVUs revenue per FTE) and manage diverse funding streams including grants and philanthropic support.
Patient Access Satisfaction and Safety
Lead efforts to improve patient access flow and satisfaction across all clinical services.
Monitor performance against access targets and implement interventions to enhance service delivery and safety.
Operational Leadership
Coordinate operations across divisions and departments ensuring seamless integration and resource optimization.
Serve as a liaison to institutional leadership and represent the institute on key committees.
Strategic Planning and Program Development
Collaborate with AVPs and Executive teams to develop and implement strategic plans for clinical and research program growth.
Translate strategic goals into financial models and operational plans aligned with Nemours long-range forecasts.
Personnel Management
Oversee compensation recruitment and performance management in partnership with HR and departmental leadership.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and promote a culture aligned with Nemours core values.
Institute Development
Lead the transformation of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine into a multi-divisional enterprise-level institute.
Foster excellence in research education and clinical care through strategic partnerships and resource alignment.
Partnership with Surgeon-in-Chief
Serve as a trusted advisor and operational partner to the Delaware Valley Surgeon-in-Chief.
Align institute goals with surgical leadership priorities and collaborate on enterprise-wide initiatives.
Market Intelligence and Growth Strategy
Utilize market data to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for growth in cardiovascular and perinatal services.
Support business development and outreach efforts to expand regional and national presence.
Requirements
Masters Degree in a business discipline or equivalent
At least 10 years of progressive experience in the areas of fiscal management program development regulatory and communications including operating and capital budget experience within a medical center or other related experience in a complex organization.
