Since 1971 the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided the highest quality of behavioral health services to residents of the cities of Hampton and Newport News Virginia offering a comprehensive array of programs for both children and adults living with mental illness developmental disabilities and/or substance use disorders.

Assertive Community Treatment or ACT is a team of medical behavioral health and rehabilitative professionals who use a team approach to meet the needs of an individual living with severe and persistent mental illness. The goal of ACT is to lessen or eliminate debilitating symptoms of mental illness each client experiences and to minimize or prevent recurrent episodes of illness assist clients to meet basic needs and enhance their quality of life improve functioning in adult social and employment roles and activities increase stability in the community decrease hospitalizations and lessen the familys burden of providing care.

Day to day as an Office Associate III for the act program

As a full time Office Associate III supporting the ACT program at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board you will be at the heart of our operations. This dynamic role involves receiving screening and assisting callers and visitors ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment. You will manage office supplies and maintain organized filing systems while performing vital data entry duties including professional correspondence and report preparation.

Additionally you will coordinate appointments schedule meetings and manage meeting rooms while accurately taking and distributing meeting minutes. Your responsibilities will extend to processing confidential data collecting client fees and preparing fee reports. You may also engage in errands and shopping for essential household supplies making your role both varied and impactful.

This position represents the director or manager allowing you to communicate with various public groups and agencies further emphasizing your integral contribution to our team and mission.

To qualify for this position candidates must have the following:

  • One (1) year of clerical and or customer services experience required.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook Word and Excel) and internet and web-based tools (e.g. Zoom).
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Experience in a health care setting preferred
