Library Technology Integration Teacher
Reports To: School Principal
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid CT State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement
- Masters Degree preferred
- Library Media Certification (062) preferred
- Successful experience as a classroom teacher preferred
General Description: Responsible for delivering academic services based on each students needs in a rigorous learning environment. The District has a rigorous curriculum that requires creative instructional strategies to build a strong foundation of learning. Balanced Literacy is a component of our elementary curriculum as well as an inquiry approach to Science and Social Studies. We seek teachers that have solid math content knowledge are able to communicate and teach for conceptual understanding of mathematics and use effective pedagogy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and delivers lessons primarily on the acquisition of STEM and research skills
- Applies computer science standards to lessons in coding and robotics.
- Applies research and speaking and listening standards to lessons in podcasting.
- Coordinates activities using Makerspace to support engineering practices.
- Empowers students to be critical thinkers enthusiastic readers skillful researchers and ethical users of information.
- Uses technology to promote student-centered learning environments including hands-on activities.
- Possesses good classroom management and discipline.
- Creates a relaxed environment in which students react and interact.
- Engages in teaching that incorporates 21st Century Learning Skills and student-centered learning through student engagement

Supporting Duties and Responsibilities:
- Selects and maintains appropriate digital and resources for students.
- Instructs students in developing methods of information retrieval
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents co-workers and students
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique needs and characteristics of all students particularly those who are differently abled (i.e. Specific Learning Disability Other Health Impaired Emotional Disability)
- Knowledge of principles of classroom and behavior management
- Knowledge of principles of child development stages and developmental delays
- Ability to exercise flexibility common sense and good judgment
- Skill in following oral and written directions
- Ability to identify prevent and deescalate negative behaviors
- Skill in assisting students in progressing on Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals
- Must be punctual and reliable

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be determined by the contract between the Norwich Board of Education and the Norwich Teachers League.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of support services.
