The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries invites applications for two full-time 12-month non-tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Librarian. Thesecurious creative andforward-thinking professionals will serve asanEmbedded Librarian for academic programs in the College of Arts & Humanities (CAH)orthe College of Health Professions & Sciences (CHPS) on UCFs main campus in Orlando Florida.

Under management ofthe Head of Research Engagementunitwithin the Academic Engagement division these librarians will collaborate with faculty and students to advance teaching learning and research. Responsibilities include developing and implementing innovative strategies that support scholarly and instructional goals. Professional service and scholarship are expected. Faculty members are evaluated annually by theAssociateDean and receive operational supervision from theUnitHead.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides robust research support to students and facultyof CAH or CHPS including serving as embedded librarian for campus-based courses asrequested; facilitating virtual or face-to-face research consultation sessions; and serving as an active partner inlocatingand assessing library resources essential for teaching and research.

  • Collaborates with faculty to providelibraryinstruction to CAH or CHPS students including providing virtual and face-to-face library instruction; and developing and maintaining asynchronous digital instructional resources.

  • Conducts outreach toCAHorCHPSstudents and facultyregardinglibrary services including creation of guides and video tutorials of relevant library resources; planning andfacilitatingof workshops webinars and tabling events; and promotion of collections essential for teaching and research.

  • Implements innovative practices and ideas based on emerging trends in educational fields and in academic libraries.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in library and/or information science or terminal degree in relevant field from an accredited institution at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree inan artEnglish history orhealth professionsrelatedfield.

  • Familiarity withevidencesynthesis andsystematicreview processes.

  • Experiencewithinnovativeteaching and learningtechnologies.
