Job Summary
Currently seeking a Production Supervisor in our Melt Shop located in Lorain County -- details are listed below:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support guide train and coach all associates in the department
- Align each associate with performance expectations based on skill and ability and provide them the tools needed to be successful
- Plan and schedule work activities to meet production targets and deadlines
- Monitor team member performance and ensure high productivity levels while maintaining quality
- Observe machines and equipment for malfunction. Repair and adjust accordingly for best operational and quality results
- Analyze production data and provide reports to management regarding performance and areas for improvement
- Communicate/collaborate with all other departments within the Foundry to support smooth operations
- Provide hands-on assistance to backfill or assist with production as necessary
- Collaborate with HR and Safety with employee relations and the hiring process
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies for improving efficiency and reducing waste
- Enforce workplace policy and procedure to promote a safe and healthy work environment
- Train new hires and current employees in shake out processes and in the operation of machines and equipment.
- Foster effective employee relations and positive employee morale
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications Skills and Abilities:
- 5-10 years of Melt Shop Iron Foundry production experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-5 years of leadership experience in sand casting environment
- Excellent coordination and attention to detail
- General knowledge of machines and tools including their uses and maintenance as well as using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
- Experience inspecting equipment structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or defects
- Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions
- Basic math skills
- Effective leadership verbal and written communication skills
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Comfortable working near and around extreme heat (furnaces/ladles of iron)
- Handle moving objects: Using hands and arms in handling installing positioning and moving materials.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs such as climbing lifting balancing walking stooping and handling materials.
- Indoor and outdoor climate conditions during all seasons and in varying temperatures.
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
