New graduate nurse or other nurse transitioning to different level of care will function under the RN job description of the unit with the oversight of the preceptor and educator. The residency is considered a form of orientation and while independence and autonomy are encouraged; to assure patient safety the preceptor or educator will determine the amount of supervision required during the progression to full independence.

Education: Associates degree in nursing
Skills: Must be able to understand directions communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.

Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations; prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust fumes chemicals temperature changes blood and bodily fluids. Must be able to occasionally and with assistance lift move or carry very heavy weight materials equipment or patients.
