Hybrid:This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren Michigan three times per week (Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday) at a minimum.

The Role

The Electrical Architecture Engineer (EA) is a key position responsible for designing and implementing the functional aspect of the entire vehicle power and signal distribution system (PSDS).

The EA works closely with Wire Harness Design Release Engineers (DREs) Component/Device DREs from all SMTs (including Powertrain HVAC Infotainment Interior Electrical Exterior/Body and Chassis) Vehicle Program Managers and ICDe Engineers.

What Youll Do

  • Establishing vehicle electrical system requirements and defining electrical systems physical/functional partitioning

  • Allocating functional requirements to subsystems

  • Selecting the electrical architecture to support requirements

  • Establishing the electrical energy management strategy

  • Balancing electrical system requirements with vehicle requirements

  • Ensuring the power generation and storage system meets vehicle level requirements using EPSSim

  • Analyzing diagnosing and correcting electrical system issues using CAE tools

  • Completing the EA DFMEA and supporting the wire harness DFMEA completion

  • Attending PSDS Product Development Team (PDT) meetings to ensure deliverables and timing are met

  • Providing program specific schematics and netlists for the wire harness sourcing process

  • Providing technical background for wire harness supplier technical reviews

  • Creating vehicle power and ground electrical subsystems

  • Selecting the proper fuses wire gauges cable insulation types and implementing circuit protection strategy per GM Circuit Protection Guideline requirements

  • Creating vehicle electrical schematics and harness netlists utilizing Mentor Capital to support vehicle wire harness builds

  • Performing design checks utilizing all available PSDS Tools

  • Review and approve the technical content of all ICDes for Stages 2 3 and 4

  • Performing Subsystem Schematic Deep Dive reviews for all subsystems implemented on a vehicle program

  • Creating Electrical Architecture Change Requests (EACRs) for all changes that impact schematic documentation after change control is implemented

  • Conducting all required EA Peer Reviews based on GVDP requirements

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

  • 2 years of post-graduation engineering experience

  • Experience in Power Signal or Automotive Product Electrical Engineering including experience releasing electrical components

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex

  • Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area

  • Ability to travel up to 5%
