The Opportunity
This is a 13-month contract role covering a maternity leave with an anticipated start in May 2026.
The Marketing & Communications Associate plays a key role in executing COVEs communications digital presence and brand visibility.
This position is responsible for producing high-quality content supporting digital channels and coordinating events and stakeholder communications. Working closely with the Manager Branding & Communications the Associate helps ensure COVEs messaging is clear consistent and aligned with organizational priorities.
This is a hands-on execution-focused role suited to someone who is highly organized detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
What Youll Do:
- Draft edit and format communications materials including newsletters blogs press releases reports and social content.
- Translate technical and program-related information into clear engaging and accessible communications
- Prepare and coordinate content for distribution across channels
- Maintain and update website content in alignment with COVEs brand and priorities.
- Coordinate the planning scheduling and publishing of social media content.
- Monitor engagement and track media mentions and digital performance.
- Support ongoing to improvements to COVEs digital presence.
- Support communications with tenants partners funders and other stakeholders by preparing updates and materials.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to share program information and support engagement.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships across COVEs community.
- Support the Marketing & Engagement Lead in the planning and delivery of events including workshops Ocean Connectors and networking activities.
- Coordinate communications and promotional materials for events.
- Represent COVE at events and support on-site execution as required.
- Track event participation and assist with post-event evaluation.
- Independently manage assigned tasks timelines and deliverables.
- Work closely with the Manager Branding & Communications on content approvals and alignment.
- Maintain records of media coverage and communications outputs.
- Ensure compliance with COVEs policies and procedures including human resources safety and operational standards.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required to support the success and growth of COVEs programs and strategic initiatives.
What You Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Communications Public Relations Marketing or a related field or equivalent education and work experience.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in communications marketing or digital content roles.
- Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats.
- Experience managing social media platforms and digital content workflows.
- Familiarity with tools such as Mailchimp Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (In Design Illustrator or Photoshop).
- Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics social media insights).
- Experience updating website content (CMS platforms).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working with technical or scientific content and translating it for broader audiences.
- Professional communication skills and ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Assets:
- Experience in marine technology defence or innovation sectors.
