Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Review geotechnical reports subsurface investigation data and engineering analyses.
- Evaluate soil conditions and foundation recommendations for construction projects.
- Provide technical support for earthwork foundations slope stability and ground improvement.
- Prepare engineering analyses reports and technical memoranda.
- Support project teams in resolving geotechnical field issues.
Design and Technical Oversight:
- Review foundation design earth retention systems and geotechnical calculations.
- Evaluate contractor submittals related to soil stabilization deep foundations and excavation support.
- Provide engineering input on design modifications and construction methodologies.
- Assess geotechnical risks and recommend mitigation measures.
Construction and Quality Assurance:
- Support monitoring of earthwork compaction foundation construction and ground improvement operations.
- Review soil testing compaction testing and geotechnical inspection reports.
- Verify construction activities comply with geotechnical design recommendations.
- Assist QA teams with evaluation of geotechnical construction quality.
Project and Field Support:
- Provide technical support to USACE Resident Offices and project teams.
- Participate in construction meetings and technical coordination discussions.
- Support documentation of geotechnical observations and engineering evaluations.
- Assist with coordination between engineering inspection and construction teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum 35 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Experience reviewing geotechnical reports and foundation design.
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout Florida.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
- Experience supporting USACE or other federal infrastructure projects.
- Experience with civil works dams levees flood control structures or reservoirs.
- Familiarity with geotechnical field investigations and laboratory testing.
