The Busser/Food Runner is responsible to prepare the dining room for the patron by primarily for assisting the Food Server in serving the guest and providing fast and courteous service.
The Busser/Food Runner is in charge of preparing clearing and resetting tables according to established service standard and performing miscellaneous tasks. This is a fast paced position with continual customer contact
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean and/or wipe down tables chairs walls windows mirror and floors of restaurant. Separate dirty china glassware and silver and deliver to kitchen for cleaning.
- Perform opening and closing side work/checklist assignments.
- Stock service station/pantry with necessary items.
- Transport linens to and from laundry.
- Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Setting up and replenishing the buffet during breakfast buffet hours.
- Maintaining buffet clean and compliant with brand standards at all time.
- Expediting food order during lunch and dinner meal periods.
- Cooperating and communicating with all serving and kitchen staff.
- Adhering to all relevant health department rules food safety and quality regulations.
- Maintaining a clean work area by removing trash cleaning tables and washing glasses utensils and equipment.
- Must be able to work under pressure and handle large volume crowd (up to 60guests or more)
- Fill in for absent staff as needed.
- The Busser will report directly to the F&B supervisor/manager
- Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to room service or baristas or servers.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work under the sun and heat.

- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Handling carrying or lifting items weighing a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Moving around the restaurant bar lounge pool area lobby and kitchen.
- Ability to stand walk bend stooping kneeling lifting etc. for extended periods.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be display a professional behavior smile often and establish connection with guests to develop customer loyalty and achieve Guest satisfaction goal.
- Must know and perform Sheraton brand standards during every interactions.

The Sheraton Palo Alto (a Pacific Hotel Management Hotel) functions 7 days a week 24 hours a day. All associates must acknowledge and understand this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move an associate from their accustomed shift as business dictates.
