About the role

The Financial Accountant sits within the Finance team at RMIT UP and reports to the Finance Manager. This roleis responsible forsupporting financial accounting processes including transactional activities month-end and year-end reporting and preparation of statutory accounts. The position plays a key role in ensuringaccuratefinancial reportingmaintainingcompliance with accounting standards and supporting broader finance operations such as receipting reconciliations and stakeholder support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes

  • Assistin the preparation and review of annual statutory accounts and liaise with auditors and central finance teams

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations andmaintaingeneral ledger accuracy

  • Supportaccounts receivable processes including fees charges and receipting

  • Process bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow where

  • Prepare and post journals including intercompany transactions

  • ProcesspayrolltaxpaymentsCompleteFBT returnand reviewBAS/GSTreconciliations

  • Assistwith credit card banking and fixed asset processes (including depreciation)

  • Provide support to Financial Analysts and broader stakeholders across the business

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes (including Workday)

  • Undertake ad hoc financial tasks as required by the Finance Manager.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting Finance or a related field with CPA/CA (or working towards)

  • Demonstrated experience in financial accounting and external reporting

  • Strong understanding of reconciliations financial controls and accounting standards

  • Advanced Excel skills and high attention to detail in data management

  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • High levelof integrity professionalism and commitment to confidentiality

  • Experience with Workday or similar financial systems (desirable)
