Position Title: Educational Diagnostician
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Position Type: Full-Time
Contract Days: 207
Primary Purpose:
The Educational Diagnostician will be responsible for assessing the educational learningand developmental needs of students to support appropriate educational individual will collaborate with campus and district personnel families and otherstakeholders to determine student eligibility for special education services and to developindividualized education plans (IEPs) that promote student success.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas certification as an Educational Diagnostician
- Valid Texas certification as a teacher
- Special education teaching experience preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience preferably in special education
- Demonstrated experience in conducting comprehensive educational assessments
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual student assessments in accordance with federal state and local
- policies to determine special education eligibility.
- Prepare written evaluation reports and present findings to Admission Review and
- Dismissal (ARD) Committees.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in the development and review of
- Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide consultation to teachers administrators and parents regarding instructional
- strategies accommodations and modifications to support student success.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluation processes and outcomes.
- Participate in ARD meetings and contribute expertise regarding student needs and
- educational programming.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current on best practices in
- assessment and special education.
Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations
- Proficiency in administering scoring and interpreting educational and cognitive assessments
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage time and multiple tasks across various campuses
- Capacity to collaborate constructively with colleagues parents and outside agencies
Other:
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping
- pushing/pulling and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking
- Environment: Exposure to biological hazards bacteria and communicable diseases;
- may require districtwide travel
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
