The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for a Restorative Aide to join our growing team! The primary purpose of your job position is to provide our residents with routine daily nursing care in accordance with our current federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services and to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an approved Nurses Aide Training Program or be eligible to enter such a program graduate and pass a state approved competency evaluation within 120 days from the date of employment.
- Certification in Restorative Care if required by state.
- Must have 12 hours of training and educational classes yearly to maintain certification.
- Must be able to read write speak and comprehend the English language.
- Must be able to write in a legible and understandable manner.
- Must be able to hear and see or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand sit bend lift and move intermittently during work hours.
- Must be able to push pull and move wheelchairs carts medical carts and other such equipment.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill disabled elderly emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must be able to work harmoniously with personnel residents family members visitors and the general public.
- Must have patience tact a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during an emergency situation when necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists residents with daily range of motion and strength training exercise routines as provided by nursing and rehabilitation.
- Provides quality nursing care to residents including transfers and ambulation.
- Assists residents in the care of prosthesis or amputations.
- Ensures proper bed and wheelchair positioning of residents.
- Provides assistance to residents with eating and swallowing exercises.
- Delivers meals and performs feeding assistance to residents.
- Ensures cleanliness of water pitchers and provides refills of fresh water as needed.
- Performs vital sign monitoring/charting and observes residents for changes in condition or behavior and reports to nursing supervisors.
- Provides assistance with lifting turning moving transporting or transferring residents.
- Monitors incontinent residents to ensure bed linens and clothing are clean and dry.
- Reduces the risk of skin breakdown by promptly reporting observations of skin breakdown and pressure areas.
- Communicates changes and ensures plan of care if being followed through effectively recording changes in charts.
