Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) for the Department of Kinesiology

College of Health and Human Services

Position Overview:

The Department of Kinesiologyis seeking Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) applicants.

The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign Instructional Student Assistant to the courses that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes courses offered may vary and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made.

Anticipated Appointment Dates:This position is opened until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available you will be notified.

  • Fall 2026: August 19 2026 - December 22 2026; anticipated start date is August 19th
  • Spring 2027: January 15 2027 - May 22 2027; anticipated start date is January 15th

Hours: 0-20 hours per week.

Job Dutiesmay include the following but will be dependent upon the specific course to which the instructional student assistant will be assigned as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty member in charge of the course:

  • Read and evaluate student papers
  • Evaluate student assignments
  • Maintain/Submit students records (i.e. grades)
  • Proctor examinations
  • Manage Canvas
  • Assist Graduate Program Coordinator with outreach communications etc. related to student recruitment and acceptance
  • Assist Human Performance Lab Director and/or Exercise Science faculty with activities and equipment specific to the Human Performance Lab

Qualifications:

  • Admission to the Graduate Program in the Department of Kinesiology in good academic standing.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Must have completed course in which opening exists
  • Enrollment in at least 6-units for the semester or in two courses toward the degree.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory progress towards the degree.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty staff and students from diverse ethnic cultural and socioeconomic background
  • Communication skills appropriate to the instructional setting
  • Ability and willingness to work with computers including common word-processing software and computer and Internet-based language teaching technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a closely-related discipline
