We are seeking a highly organised proactive and professional Attendance Officer to join a good-rated secondary school in Oxford. This role is central to monitoring managing and improving student attendance ensuring that pupils receive the full benefit of their education. The successful candidate will work closely with students parents and staff to promote positive attendance and contribute to the schools overall student welfare.
Role Overview:
As Attendance Officer you will be responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records identifying patterns of absence and implementing strategies to improve attendance. You will liaise with students parents and teaching staff to address attendance concerns and support student engagement. Your work will help ensure that students achieve their academic potential and that the school maintains high standards of attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain accurate attendance records using school systems.
Identify trends or patterns in student attendance and implement appropriate interventions.
Contact parents and carers regarding absences and punctuality issues.
Support students with attendance difficulties offering guidance and support where needed.
Work with the pastoral and safeguarding teams to address attendance-related concerns.
Prepare attendance reports for school leadership governors and external agencies.
Assist in implementing school attendance policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding data protection and statutory attendance requirements.
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience in attendance management pastoral support or administration ideally within a school setting.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with students parents and staff.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with IT systems and data management tools.
Knowledge of safeguarding child protection and statutory attendance regulations.
