Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organised experienced and proactive School Business Manager (SBM) to join an outstanding primary school in Bristol. This senior administrative role is crucial to the smooth and efficient operation of the school supporting leadership in financial management human resources compliance and site management. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational support ensuring the school runs effectively and sustainably.

Role Overview:
As School Business Manager you will oversee the schools non-teaching operations including finance staffing facilities and compliance. You will work closely with the headteacher and leadership team to manage budgets monitor resources and support operational planning. Your role will help create an environment where teaching and learning can thrive contributing to the overall success and reputation of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial management including budgeting reporting and payroll support.

  • Manage administrative HR and operational systems to ensure smooth school operations.

  • Coordinate site management maintenance health and safety and compliance procedures.

  • Support school governance by preparing reports data and documentation as required.

  • Work collaboratively with staff suppliers and external agencies to optimise resources.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations safeguarding policies and data protection laws.

  • Develop and implement school policies and operational procedures in collaboration with leadership.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making to support school development and improvement.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in school administration business management or a senior operational role.

  • Strong financial management skills and knowledge of budgeting processes.

  • Excellent organisational planning and leadership skills.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise with staff governors parents and external agencies.

  • Knowledge of HR payroll and school governance processes is desirable.

  • Ability to work independently manage multiple priorities and lead projects.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards professionalism and confidentiality.
