We are looking to appoint a meticulous and dependable Finance Assistant to join a well-regarded secondary school in Norwich. This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional or experienced administrator with strong numerical skills who is looking to work in a school environment where accuracy efficiency and teamwork are highly valued. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day financial operations of the school and play an important role in ensuring that systems are managed effectively and resources are used responsibly.

The school is seeking someone who can work with care and precision across a range of financial tasks including processing invoices maintaining financial records reconciling transactions and supporting budget monitoring. You will need to be confident working with figures able to meet deadlines and comfortable using financial and administrative systems. Strong communication skills are also important as the role involves regular contact with staff suppliers and external stakeholders.

As Finance Assistant you will help ensure that the financial administration of the school is carried out accurately and in line with internal procedures. You will support the wider business and finance function assisting with purchase orders payments income recording and the maintenance of clear and accurate documentation. The successful candidate will be highly organised trustworthy and able to manage routine tasks while remaining responsive to changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
Process purchase orders invoices and payments accurately
Maintain up-to-date financial records and filing systems
Assist with reconciliation of accounts and financial transactions
Record income and support banking procedures where required
Liaise with suppliers and respond to finance-related queries
Support budget monitoring and reporting processes
Ensure compliance with school finance procedures and audit requirements
Assist with procurement administration and documentation
Work closely with the School Business Manager and finance team
Provide administrative support related to financial operations

Requirements:
Previous experience in a finance accounts or administrative role
Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage confidential information professionally
Good IT skills including Excel and financial software
Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Clear communication skills and a professional manner
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience in a school or education setting is desirable but not essential
A finance-related qualification would be advantageous
