The Service Control/Operations Methodology at Excellus generally consists of the following disciplines:
- Asset and Configuration Management
- Incident/Problem/Change Management
- Service Desk
The Asset-Configuration Management Analyst is specific to the Asset and Configuration Management Function at the Excellus Health Plan. This position oversees the daily and long-term strategic management of software and technology-related hardware within the organization. This position is responsible for the development implementation monitoring administration and compliance of all IT Asset Management tools and services such as but not limited to tracking PC and Server lifecycles software license compliancy and unauthorized software or hardware installations and usage. The incumbent will develop and implement procedures for tracking company assets to oversee quality control throughout.
Essential Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
All Levels:
Level I:
- Works closely with Purchasing Finance Contracts vendors and all areas within EIT to ensure that IT technology-related hardware and software assets are documented accounted and tracked throughout their entire lifecycle.
- Plans monitors and records software and/or hardware licenses to ensure compliance with vendor contracts.
- Utilizes ITAM tools programs and processes to manage IT inventory complying with approved policy and guidelines.
- Develops creates and maintains associated custom connectors and scripts within the tool sets.
- Compares licenses warranties maintenance agreements and vendor contracts against audits to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory policies.
- Performs inventory and usage monitoring of IT hardware and software and records for quality control and comparison against standard corporate practices.
- Ensures all software running on company owned equipment has been approved for use within our environment by tracking and reporting on unauthorized installs; develops and executes associated remediation plan.
- Performs reconciliations and remediations on all software.
- Responsible for maintaining all discovery schedules and accuracy of all discovery models.
- Develops metrics and runs reports to understand compliance position and risk.
- Identifies cost-saving opportunities including standards definition and application rationalization efforts.
- Explores opportunities to leverage unused IT assets to achieve full efficiency and ROI from company resources.
- Performs software requisitioning for all business areas.

Level II (in addition to Level I essential responsibilities/accountabilities):
- Collaborates with peers in supporting upgrading and/or replacing asset management tools as well as on the development of support documentation and reporting templates.
- Responsible for implementing configuring and maintaining all ServiceNow CMDB (Configuration Management Database) processes work instructions and activities.
- Performs at minimum quarterly process reviews and recommend CSI initiatives/opportunities for consideration and approval.
- Performs auditing reports that highlight missing asset and configuration items information investigating reasons and recommending actions to prevent their recurrence.
- Assists in the definition and registration of configuration items (Cis) driving toward the appropriate level of attributes and relationships required to support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
- Maintains precise documentation and accurate usage of the CMDB.
- Ensures all patterning for discovery and service mapping is accurately maintained.
- Performs reconciliations between the CMDB and monitoring tools.
- Understands and maintains all CMDB and Asset Management dashboards.
Minimum Qualifications:

Level I:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or relevant field (or four additional years related work experience in lieu of bachelors).
- Three years of experience in related field.
- Experience in working within the ITIL Framework for Asset & Configuration Management including ITIL foundation level training.
- Working knowledge of asset management design and implementation along with project management and process improvement preferred.
- Solid understanding of end user licensing agreements and licensing types.
- Experience with tools and processes of software distribution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills both technical and non-technical.
- Proven analytical planning and organizational skills.
- Keeps abreast of all new IT hardware and software technology.
Level II (in addition to Level I minimum qualifications):
- Five years related work experience.
- Certification in working within the ITIL Framework for Asset & Configuration Management including ITIL foundation level training.
- Experience with configuration management tools as an administrator preferably ServiceNow Discovery.
- Experience maintaining baseline and CMDB using platforms such as ServiceNow.
- Experience with SQL JAVA Visual Basic and Crystal Reports.
- Working knowledge of software change control best practices and methodologies.
- Working knowledge of asset management and configuration management design and implementation along with project management and process improvement preferred.
- Advanced understanding of end user licensing agreements and licensing types.
- Advanced experience with tools and processes of software distribution.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel across regions.
