- Unit Details:
- 29-bed medical-surgical telemetry unit
- Minimum 2 years of MST experience required
- First-time travelers considered with strong MST background
- Patient Population:
- General Medicine: Diabetes GI Respiratory Renal Wounds Chest tubes Trachs
- Frequent lab draws
- Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:5-6
- CNA: 1:9-10
- Required Licensure/Certifications:
- BLS ACLS
- NIHSS (for Resource Team)
- Required Skills:
- Direct/indirect patient care
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaboration in a team environment
- Telemetry strip reading
- Chest tubes traches PIV starts drains/tubes PCA pumps
- Gtts management (Amiodarone Fentanyl PCA Ketamine PCA Heparin)
- Department Support:
- CNA Receptionist/HUC Charge nurse
- Shared phlebotomy responsibilities
- No IV/VAT team
- 24/7: Rapid Response RT Hospitalist Intensivist
- Centralized telemetry monitoring
- Technology/Equipment:
- Epic (EMR) Alaris (IV pumps) Omnicell (med dispensing)
- Floating:
- Required to float to other MedSurg units
- Orientation:
- NEO and 2 days departmental orientation
- Scheduling:
- 12-hour shifts (0630-1900 or 1830-0630)
- Weekend rotation: every other
- No on-call
- Work 75% of holidays
- RTO: manager approval
- 6-week schedule cycle
