Job Title: Forklift Operator I / Yard Operator
Location: Salt Lake City UT 84104
Duration: 6months (Potential extension)
Work Schedule: Monday Friday 7:00 AM 4:00 PM (30-minute lunch)
Work Environment: Fully onsite outdoor industrial yard environment
Interview Process: In-person interview required
Pay range: $20/hr to $22/hr
Position Summary
The Forklift Operator I is responsible for operating forklifts and yard equipment to safely move load and unload materials within a fast-paced industrial yard environment. This role includes yard jockey responsibilities such as repositioning trailers supporting logistics operations and assisting with general yard maintenance and equipment organization.
Key Responsibilities
Operate forklifts and industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries.
Transport materials between storage areas loading docks trucks and equipment zones.
Perform yard jockey duties including moving trailers and positioning them for loading/unloading.
Ensure safe and efficient movement of goods within the yard warehouse and loading areas.
Inspect forklifts trailers and equipment to ensure proper operation and safety compliance.
Assist with organizing yard layout cleaning work areas and maintaining equipment storage.
Support mechanics with equipment testing and basic operational assistance.
Communicate with warehouse logistics and operations teams to ensure workflow efficiency.
Follow all safety regulations and company policies in a safety-sensitive environment.
Perform general yard labor duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
1 3 years of forklift operating experience in an industrial or warehouse environment.
Experience with yard operations or yard jockey duties preferred.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
Strong understanding of workplace safety protocols.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Reliable attendance and strong punctuality (mandatory requirement).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in outdoor or heavy industrial environments.
Familiarity with trailer movement and yard truck operations..
Basic mechanical aptitude or experience assisting with equipment.
