Position Summary

The Director collaborates with other Nursing Leaders Medical Directors and portfolio leaders to advance strategy and operational direction for the Emergency Departments and Inpatient Mental Health Unit. This role coordinate efforts across departments and services by providing clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. The director facilitates an atmosphere of inclusive situational management and the development of collegial relationships among department employees and other healthcare disciplines consistent with Childrens values and Magnet model guiding principles. This position has a major responsibility for the implementation of the organizations mission vision values code of conduct evidence-based nursing practice within their defined areas of responsibility and considering clinical needs of the population across the care continuum. They support the utilization of technology in care delivery to improve access and service quality.

The Director Emergency Services has responsibility and accountability to ensure that services and programs provided in the Emergency departments and Inpatient Mental Health unit are patient/family focused clinically excellent operationally efficient and achieve effective outcomes in clinical quality safety cost experience and staff engagement. The director will play a critical role in fostering a healthy working environment that is conducive to all employees and aligns with our principles of diversity equity and inclusion. The director advocates for and maximizes the use of available resources to ensure the delivery of efficient safe and compassionate clinical care based on current standards of practice and evidence. They have accountability for nursing practice in all areas of responsibility and provides leadership to promote shared decision making.

The Director Emergency Services reports to VP of Acute Care and Clinical Operations.

License/Certification/Registration:
*Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota or eligible for licensure.

Education:
*Bachelors degree or higher in nursing required.
*Masters degree in healthcare related field (preferably nursing MBA with healthcare focus or MHA) preferred.
*Professional nursing certification preferred (or achieved within 1 year of hire).

Experience:
*Minimum 10 years of progressively more responsible clinical management and leadership experience.
*Demonstrated success in system implementations.
*Progressive management/leadership/ experience at the system level.
*Management experience in a labor contract environment preferred.
*A track record of developing people through coaching mentoring and encouragement.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking planning and implementation.
*Possesses a proven track record of leading cost-effective hospital and health services operations.
*Experience in successful partnering with other health care programs and organizations including community agencies.
*Possesses a strong background specifically in nursing and clinical operations and have experience in quality improvement benchmarking process improvement patient safety productivity management and patient satisfaction.
*Demonstrates excellent collaboration and influence skills to support service line development.
*Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate effective teams with proven ability to realize favorable outcomes and performance.
*Effective communicator both in facilitating group discussion and presenting information in a larger forum.
*Knowledge of how to incorporate evidence based practices and resources for benchmarking processes and outcomes.
*Knowledge methods and skills needed to effectuate change to understand and value the perspectives and responsibilities of others and the capacity to mentor others.
*Financial acumen.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employees scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
