Entry Laboratory Science Professional

Job Summary:

Entry Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab or wet lab and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential wet hazards. Entry Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals drugs or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed. The candidate will work very closely with Dr. Forester research services professional(s) postdoctoral fellows graduate students and clinical fellows within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.

• Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions including preserving samples completing sample preparation documenting and communicating results.

• Perform pre-analytical analytical and post-analytical test processes and evaluate the results produced.

• Prepare lab for daily operations including stocking materials equipment safety cleanliness and related areas.

• Provide animal care related to research studies as necessary.

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field

• Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year-for-year basis.

Conditions of Employment:

• Must be willing and able to pass national criminal and sex offender background checks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field

• Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab

• Previous professional laboratory experience in immunology stem cell or cancer biology

• Experience with CRISPR transfection and transduction

• Previous independent laboratory experience outside of required courses is preferred

• FACS experience

• Experience in computational analysis and RNA biology is highly preferred

• Experience with Illumina DNA sequencing analysis would greatly accelerate this line of research

• Previous experience in presenting or publishing biology research even if not on the author list

• Experience with pipetting and aseptic tissue culture

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques

• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

• Outstanding customer service skills

• Knowledge of basic human anatomy physiology and medical terminology

• Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

• Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software including Word Excel PowerPoint Illustrator and Photoshop

• Ability to maintain a laboratory notebook

• Able to take the initiative to address research issues

• An ability to clearly demonstrate a passion for scientific research and must exhibit a strong commitment to perform scientific research with a desire to pursue an advanced MD Ph.D. or combined degree in the biological sciences

• Detail-oriented and organized

• Ability to work independently

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established as $46274 to $58861.

The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
