Title: Forklift Operator (Material Handling) Part Time - EDM
Job Summary:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading trucks and trailers. You will work closely with the shipping and receiving coordinator and operations supervisor or terminal/operations manager along with our drivers outside carriers and other operational staff as required.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products and materials throughout the Terminal efficiently. This role requires attention to detail adherence to safety protocols and the ability to perform heavy lifting as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Handling & Execution
- Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment
- Load and unload trailers efficiently and accurately
- Stage freight in assigned dock lanes/zones as directed
- Assist with hand-bombing and special handling when required
- Follow load plans and instructions from the Dock Coordinator
Inspection & Accuracy
Inspect all inbound and outbound freight for:
- Damage
- Proper packaging
- Accurate labelling
- Immediately report discrepancies damage or concerns
- Ensure freight is placed in the correct location to prevent misloads
& Safety Compliance
- Complete daily forklift and equipment inspections
- Follow all safety policies procedures and PPE requirements
- Report all incidents near misses and hazards immediately
Organization and Housekeeping Other duties
- Maintain a clean organized and hazard-free dock
- Keep lanes clear and freight properly staged
- Clean trailers before loading where required
- Any other ad hoc relevant job duties as required/assigned from time to time.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- 2 years of forklift operation in a warehouse or LTL environment preferred
- Minimum high school diploma
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Trained in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods walk bend case picking and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work in hot or cold temps and a moderately dusty environment at times.
- Safety oriented
- Task-oriented self-motivating.
- Proficient use of English both written and spoken; additional languages considered an asset.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Forklift Certified
- Proficient use of English both written and spoken; additional languages considered an asset.
- TDG and WHMIS certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
Performance Expectations (KPIs)
- Safe work compliance (zero incidents)
- Loading/unloading productivity (trailers/hour)
- Freight handling accuracy (minimal damages/misloads)
- Adherence to dock staging and flow standards
- Responsiveness to Dock Coordinator direction

Job Type
Part-time - May lead to full-time.
Schedule:
Ø 4 - hour morning or evening shift (6 AM to 10 AM or 6 PM to 10 PM)
Ø Monday to Friday
Ø InPerson Edmonton Terminal
Ability to commute/relocate.
ØEdmonton AB: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
