Job Summary

Payroll Assistant

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor the Payroll Assistant will be an integral part of the team responsible for processing company payroll in a timely and accurate manner while in accordance with company and government policies.

This position is based in the Winnipeg or Edmonton office.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Prepare for weekly and bi-weekly hourly payroll. This includes handling the hire / rehire of employees collecting tax forms posting hours and preparing terminations.
  • Monitor and resolve system errors with the team.
  • Liaise with staff and management on payroll-related inquiries.
  • Prepare various correspondence statistical summaries and other material related to payroll function.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping payroll information confidential.
  • Prepare Records of Employment (ROE) using ROE Web.
  • Perform payroll administrative tasks as required.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 2 years payroll experience processing in house payroll.
  • PCP designation or working toward designation is an asset.
  • Efficient with Excel data processing skills and can effectively deal with confidential information.
  • Excellent communications skills customer service oriented and team player.
  • Ability to manage a large volume of work and can consistently meet deadlines while ensuring high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to forge grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
  • Strong analytical critical thinking problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
