The College of Business Administration (COBA) at Texas A&M University-Central Texas invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer of Computer Information Systems to start in June 2026. This is a professional track (non-tenure track) position that will have a nine-month contract with a separate summer contract.
The successful applicant will initially teach CIS courses (taught as continuing education/non-credit courses) in an innovative program under a contract between TAMU-CT and the U.S. Army. The successful candidate must be able to teach Business Analysis with Spreadsheets Introduction to Business Analytics (as well as web and social analytics) Data Visualization and other related areas in computer information systems as determined by department needs and individual qualifications. The courses will be delivered face-to-face in 10-week modules. The faculty member will be expected to lead in the conversion of the traditional for credit courses into the 10-week format prior to the fall start date of the program. If any traditional for-credit courses are assigned they may be in other modalities and delivered on a semester basis. The faculty member will be expected to perform the duties regularly expected of a faculty member including but not limited to meeting their courses as scheduled holding regular office hours in accordance with program requirements attending COBA and department meetings and submitting syllabi and attendance verification on time as appropriate.
A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19 2025 imposes a $100000 fee on all new H1B petitions filed after September 21 2025 and Texas A&M UniversityCentral Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27 2026 restricts the filing of new H1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. The College of Business Administration enrolls about 1200 students across three departments: Accounting and Finance Computer Information Systems and Management and Marketing. COBA offers undergraduate degrees in accounting business computer information systems computer science information technology finance human resource management management and addition to the general MBA degree COBA offers Master of Science degrees in accounting information systems and leadership. The CIS department is the fastest growing in COBA and boasts an impressive number of federal contracts and grants. The college is accredited by AACSB.
About the University
Texas A&M University-Central Texas (A&M-Central Texas) was established in 2009 as an upper-level undergraduate (junior and senior level classes only) and graduate institution within the Texas A&M University System. The university serves 2500 students. The beautiful new campus is located on 672 acres of land in Killeen Texas. Minimum Requirements
Earned M.S. in Information Systems/Computer Science or a closely related degree/area.
Must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges (SACSCOC) credentialing standards which normally include a Masters degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area taught or suitable appropriate justification.
The ability to be classified as an Instructional Practitioner (IP) under COBAs AACSB faculty guidelines.

Salary: $90000 depending on experience for the nine-month appointment (Fall an d Spring terms) with an additional contract at the same rate for the summer.
Hours: Variable faculty hours vary according to course schedule and modality. Nights and weekends may be required.
