Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Materials Testing Technician to join our rapidly expanding team in Warren MI. As a member of the operations team the Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision.
Our Warren 11 Mile facility provides complete full-vehicle subsystem and component testing for automotive transportation aerospace defense commercial and industrial customers. The laboratorys capabilities span climatic and environmental simulation fuels and fluids testing polymer and composite analysis materials testing corrosionvibration hydraulic and dynamics testing and advancedhybrid andelectric vehicle battery testing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare material specimens for the following testing procedures:
- flammability testing
- abrasion testing
- scratch testing
- mar testing
- tensile testing
- chemical testing
- Perform tests as directed by customer specifications
- Operate under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department Manager
- Gather and record test data
- Construct and maintain various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment
Skills / Qualifications
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
- 0-2 years experience in a testing related field
- Basic understanding of testing concepts
- Possess computer skills.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
Physical Demands:
- Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
- Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50lbs periodically
