Position Summary: The Director of School Leadership (DSL) is a district leadership roleresponsible for supervising and developing school principals and ensuring strong instructionalleadership across a network of Tulsa Public Schools campuses.
DSLs serve as the official evaluator of record for assigned principals and are responsible forsupervising coaching and evaluating principal performance. The role includes accountability forprincipal effectiveness school improvement outcomes and the implementation of districtleadership DSL supervises and evaluates principals within an assigned network of may include elementary or secondary schools with contextual differences ininstructional focus while maintaining a unified leadership framework and consistent leadershipexpectations across the DSL operates at the intersection of schools and district leadership. The role supportssystem-wide school improvement by monitoring performance across schools identifying trendssupporting leadership development and informing district strategy related to schoolperformance and instructional work closely with district executive leadership to ensure alignment between schoolperformance district priorities and Board-adopted in this role is defined by continuous growth in student proficiency and sustainedimprovement in school performance outcomes.
Key Functions:
Supervise and evaluate principals across an assigned network of schools
Serve as the official evaluator of record for assigned principals
Lead structured leadership coaching cycles focused on improving principal effectivenessand student outcomes
Monitor implementation of district leadership frameworks and school improvementstrategies
Analyze school performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Support the development of leadership capacity among principals and assistantprincipals
Collaborate with district leadership to strengthen school leadership systems andpractices
Represent school leadership perspectives in district planning and decision-making
Support implementation of district initiatives across assigned schools
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Masters degree in Educational Leadership Educational Administration Curriculum andInstruction or a related field required
Doctoral degree preferred
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of school leadership experience required
Experience as a school principal is strongly preferred
Demonstrated success in improving school performance and student learning outcomes
Experience supervising coaching or evaluating school leaders preferred
Experience working in a large or urban school district preferred
Experience leading complex school improvement initiatives
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of an Oklahoma teaching certificate is required
Possession of an Oklahoma Administrative Certificate is required
Valid Drivers License required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of effective school leadership practices and instructional improvementstrategies
Knowledge of school performance frameworks accountability systems and schoolimprovement planning
Ability to supervise coach and evaluate school leaders
Strong leadership development and adult coaching skills
Ability to analyze academic and operational data to drive school improvement
Ability to identify trends across schools and translate insights into district strategy
Ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and central office departments
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to influence organizational improvement and lead change initiatives
Strong organizational leadership and decision-making skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities across a network of schools
