BASIC FUNCTION |
To coordinate on an individualized basis the combined resources of the school district with those of selected appropriate community agencies in assisting students to meet problems which threaten effective school performance and to assure students enrolled in the districts schools gain full advantage from available educational opportunities. |
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES |
Coordinates services and referrals of district and community resources. |
Consults with counselors other staff and community agency representatives to facilitate two-way communication toward the goals of understanding and teamwork. |
Prepares and submits all reports and records required by the State Department of Education. |
Participates in training programs on local state and national levels. |
Assists school principals with severe discipline problems through the aid of behavior modification techniques probations parent conferences student conferences court action and expulsions. |
Monitors and reports records of suspensions expulsions STEP assignments and prepares drug use statistics for school district. |
Participates in individual or group counseling sessions whenever requested by a member of the administration or the student personnel team and conducts/participates in case conferences and formal probational hearings. |
Assumes responsibility for own professional development; for keeping current with the literature new research findings and improved techniques in specialized area; and for attending appropriate professional meetings. |
Establishes effective working liaison with the various offices and agencies within the community that may provide specialized or professional help to students and their parents and serves as the referral agent to those offices and agencies (e.g. Wanda Joyce Foundation etc). |
Establishes effective working relationships with other institutions of the city county and state that may be of assistance to teachers parents or students. |
Coordinates the development of district and school safety plans and acts as liaison to school safety center. |
Develops and implements the Safe and Drug Free Schools. |
Oversees community Education Program. |
Oversees behavioral RTI. |
Serves as a resource for the after-school programs. |
Initiates the yearly development and review of the Student Code of Conduct |
Oversees the implementation of the Family Resource Centers and Youth Service Centers. |
Coordinates and collaborates with guidance specialists behavior interventionists FRC to provide support and guidance for successful implementation of programs strategies and state grant expectations (including monitoring budget etc). |
Provides related required trainings/reports for the district (e.g. CSTAG Safe Crisis Management etc) |
Facilitates alternative education change of placement decisions (Chairs S.O.A.P. Committee) |
Collaborate with counselors and school administration to facilitate and present bullying prevention strategies and seminars to students across the district. |
Investigate recommend and implement programs approved by the Board to ensure student safety and well-being (e.g. Sources of Strength) |
Plan coordinate and supervise the review examination and testing of a variety of athletic products and equipment in determining product standards and in the development of product bid specifications |
Plan develop and conduct personnel orientation and in-service training programs; to include but not limited to Title IX |
Serve as the district Title IX compliance consultant for athletics |
Serve as the point of contract for the districts curricular and co-curricular activities including athletics |
Assist schools with coordinating developing and scheduling student activities across the district |
Collaborate with district health/nursing services and athletic trainers to help coordinate health services for students |
Coordinate with schools to organize and administer the overall program of interscholastic/intramural athletics for the high school pursuant to Board and KHSAA policies |
Coordinate and oversee the development of a feeder school athletic program |
Ensure all head coaches (middle school and high school) receive information annually regarding district expectations district hiring process of coaches and provide required training |
Assist schools in enforcement of physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport and verifies each athletes eligibility consistent with SBDM Board and KHSAA rules |
Oversees the district sports programs and ensures that the required training is provided; including the implementation of board approved traceable communication methods/techniques |
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. |

Two hundred forty (240) days per year. Salary to be established by the Board. |

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy for Professional Personnel. |
