WTAJ is looking for an energetic and creative full-time Lifestyle Producer/Assistant Host. The ideal candidate enjoys hard work while maintaining a fun vibe! You will set up guest appearances produce and conduct live and recorded interviews as well as participate in some on-air segments for our popular daily show Studio 814. In addition to daily broadcasts you will also play a pivotal role in providing digital content for WTAJ (our CTV channel) and social media. You will also serve as a supplemental host and occasionally as the primary host when called upon.
Each day you will collaborate with the lifestyle shows host to generate content ideas and maintain a robust calendar of appearances and trending topics. Our show regularly features local businesses restaurants entertainment local organizations and more. You will greet and assist guests during show preparations and coordinate logistics with our production and sales teams.
WTAJs studios are in Altoona PA but our viewership extends to 10 counties and includes State College DuBois and Johnstown. This region features some of the best outdoor scenery collegiate and professional sports fantastic festivals year-round and is home to the famous Punxsutawney Phil of Groundhog Day!
Duties include:
- Set up and interview show guests/clients both in studio and on location
- Collect information video or photos at remote locations for post-production
- Greet and assist guests during show preparations
- Research show topics and develop questions for guests in coordination with Studio 814s primary Host
- Ability to work with all departments including News Sales and Production.
- Communicate and work with sales team to schedule and execute assignments client stories segments and sponsored content and ensure all required materials are submitted in a timely manner to meet client and station deadlines
- Participate in events either station-sponsored or others to promote the show
- Maintain the shows social media account and assist with all online and streaming content
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
- Comfortable on-air presence and ability to perform LIVE and interview guests
- Ability to record and edit video as a multimedia journalist. Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and ENPS is preferred but not required.
- Minimum two years experience in creatinglifestyle sales marketing or news content
- Ability to meet deadlines prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid drivers license with a good driving record
