About the role Mō te tūranga:
Our Microbiology Department is seeking a dedicated and motivated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in a permanent part-time role (32 hours per week) with rostered evening and weekend shifts. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a vital and fast-paced area of our laboratory services.

Were looking for someone who is eager to learn new skills works effectively both independently and as part of a team and takes pride in delivering high-quality accurate results. Youll be organised detail-oriented and approachable with a strong commitment to excellence in both scientific standards and customer service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative precision and the ability to work confidently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform microbiological testing on clinical specimens ensuring accurate and timely results.
• Identify isolate and analyse microorganisms using standard laboratory techniques.
• Maintain quality control adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments to support efficient laboratory operations.
• Document and report results accurately while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role you need to have:

• The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
• A team focus with initiative excellent interpersonal and communication skills and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.
• Excellent attention to detail with good record-keeping skills.
• The ability to work independently and able to participate in out-of-hour shifts as per the roster provided.
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Technician
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
