UWHR Compensation is a functional unit within UWHR that provides compensation and classification expertise to departments of the UW and to UW Medicine. The Compensation team serves as a strategic partner in advancing the universitys ability to attract and retain top talent. The team ensures compliance with federal state and local laws regulations and policies while aligning compensation practices with institutional values.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Campus Compensation the Compensation Specialist has responsibility for reviewing and evaluating classified professional and represented civil service exempt staff positions to ensure alignment and compliance with applicable classification and compensation standards. This position will exercise discretion and independent judgment in effecting executing and discharging various aspects of the compensation and classification function. Primarily focused on providing professional level support the Compensation Specialist will provide initial review and conduct preliminary research to expedite position and compensation reviews for Compensation Consultants. Additionally this position will be independently responsible for routine classification reviews and compensation related actions for classified represented civil service exempt and/or temporary professional staff positions.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Public Administration or related field and 2 years of administrative experience including 1 year of progressively responsible work in Human Resources.

Additional Qualifications
Must demonstrate excellent writing and oral communications skills customer service skills and an ability to work within complex organizational structures while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
