Job Summary

Dyersburg State Community College invites applications for surgical technology adjunct instructors for classes held in Covington and clinical for the surrounding areas. This position is focused on the clinical setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach assigned courses/clinical for discipline; prepare course materials; evaluate student learning and maintain class records. Assignment will be determined upon the needs of an instructor at our clinical sites.

Working Conditions:

Desk work and surgical area; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office and hospital/surgical area settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

Credentialed in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency
Two years of documented experience either in operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology or combination of both within the past five years.
Must be qualified by education and experience and must be effective in teaching the subjects assigned.
Ability to communicate well in oral and written English.
Actively communicate with colleagues using email and other electronic means.
Commitment to teaching and providing quality education for students.
Qualities of integrity initiative and good judgment with high ethical standards.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals and/or groups.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in the West Tennessee Healthcare Surgical System.
