Reporting to the Production Supervisor -Metal the Metal Fabricator I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the fabrication and assembly of custom metal projects. This role is focused on developing foundational fabrication skills learning DI standards and executing work safely and accurately under supervision.
The Metal Fabricator I works in a fast-paced team-oriented environment and is expected to follow direction ask questions and build proficiency in core fabrication processes while contributing to overall production goals.
This is a full-time hourly position scheduled MondayFriday with availability for overtime when necessary.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:
- Maintains a safe work environment by following all shop safety procedures wearing required PPE and using tools and machines properly
- Fabricates and assembles basic metal components using processes such as cutting welding grinding sanding and finishing under supervision
- Can sand metal and use Bondo when necessary
- Reads and follows basic production drawings with guidance to understand part requirements dimensions and assembly intent
- Performs MIG welding tasks with guidance developing consistency and technique to produce acceptable welds
- Assists with TIG welding and other fabrication processes as skill level develop
- Prepares materials and parts for fabrication including measuring layout and stagingcomponents prior to assembly
- Performs quality checks during the fabrication process and seeks input from team members to ensure work meets DI standards
- Uses tools machines and equipment safely and correctly asking for assistance when needed
- Follows direction and completes assigned tasks on time to support production schedules
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of work area tools and materials in accordance with shop standards
- Communicates clearly with supervisors and team members to ask questions confirm understanding and support workflow
- Open to receiving coaching and applies feedback to improve performance and skill development
- Adheres to established work hours and takes responsibility for managing time effectively
- Supports additional production duties as assigned based on skill level
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Demonstrates developing technical skills in MIG welding; TIG welding knowledge is preferred but not required
- Has basic understanding of metal fabrication processes and materials
- Has basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings with guidance
- Demonstrates willingness to learn ask questions and improve technical skills
- Possesses basic knowledge of geometry fractions and decimals (standard and metric)
- Demonstrates a positive attitude strong work ethic and openness to feedback
- Communicates professionally and respectfully with team members in verbal and written form
- Maintains accountability for personal work while learning broader production processes
- Shows attention to detail and a developing eye for quality
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Welding degree from a technical school is strongly preferred
- 12 years of experience in metal fabrication or related field preferred
- Prior experience in a custom metal fabrication or sign fabrication environment is a plus

Due to our onsite Fabrication process the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions moving mechanical parts fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
