Job Summary

LITIGATION PARALEGAL


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Save all emails received in Practice Panther in the appropriate matter using the firms standard naming conventions and protocols;
  • Prepare medical records authorizations from opposing counsel/plaintiff as assigned;
  • Calendar/docket all court and other case-related deadlines
  • Create calendar invite Outlook calendar and send to assigned attorney
  • Schedule reminders in Outlook at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline
  • Create task/event in Practice Panther and assign to assigned attorney
  • Schedule reminders in Practice Panther at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline;
  • Schedule depositions mediations and arbitrations as assigned
  • Create calendar invite Outlook calendar and send to assigned attorney
  • Schedule reminders in Outlook at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline
  • Create task/event in Practice Panther and assign to assigned attorney
  • Schedule reminders in Practice Panther at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline;
  • Draft case documents as assigned by attorney including pleadings subpoenas discovery disclosure statements (including supplemental disclosure statements)
  • Schedule follow up and other deadlines as necessary to ensure responses are followed through if appropriate
  • Meet regularly with assigned attorneys for follow up on deadlines assignments and work
  • Enter billable time daily

Knowledge Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Superior interpersonal skills to communicate with opposing counsel medical providers and others related to case and document management;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Proven time management skills with a proven ability to set meet and follow deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate;
  • Strong ability to act with integrity professionalism and confidentiality;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software;
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations billing system and document management system.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Some college level courses at a community college or four-year university a plus
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a paralegal for a law firm preferably insurance defense or corporate in-house litigation experience
