LITIGATION PARALEGAL
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Save all emails received in Practice Panther in the appropriate matter using the firms standard naming conventions and protocols;
- Prepare medical records authorizations from opposing counsel/plaintiff as assigned;
- Calendar/docket all court and other case-related deadlines
- Create calendar invite Outlook calendar and send to assigned attorney
- Schedule reminders in Outlook at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline
- Create task/event in Practice Panther and assign to assigned attorney
- Schedule reminders in Practice Panther at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline;
- Schedule depositions mediations and arbitrations as assigned
- Create calendar invite Outlook calendar and send to assigned attorney
- Schedule reminders in Outlook at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline
- Create task/event in Practice Panther and assign to assigned attorney
- Schedule reminders in Practice Panther at appropriate intervals prior to the deadline;
- Draft case documents as assigned by attorney including pleadings subpoenas discovery disclosure statements (including supplemental disclosure statements)
- Schedule follow up and other deadlines as necessary to ensure responses are followed through if appropriate
- Meet regularly with assigned attorneys for follow up on deadlines assignments and work
- Enter billable time daily
Knowledge Skills and/or Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Superior interpersonal skills to communicate with opposing counsel medical providers and others related to case and document management;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Proven time management skills with a proven ability to set meet and follow deadlines;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate;
- Strong ability to act with integrity professionalism and confidentiality;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software;
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations billing system and document management system.
Education and/or Experience:
- Some college level courses at a community college or four-year university a plus
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a paralegal for a law firm preferably insurance defense or corporate in-house litigation experience
