Role Summary
The Senior Data Center Facilities Technician is responsible for executing and supporting the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program across data center and assigned facility spaces. This role ensures safe reliable and efficient operation of critical infrastructure while supporting vendor coordination incident response and compliance with operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Execute assigned tasks within the data center O&M program under the direction of the Senior Facility Manager
- Understand and adhere to building operational procedures and site-specific requirements
- Utilize and support the use of the CMMS system to track preventive maintenance reactive work orders and labor activities
- Follow and enforce SOPs MOPs EOPs and MMRs for all maintenance and operational activities
Incident Response & Technical Operations
- Respond to building system alarms prioritizing:
Protection of critical load
Minimization of equipment or system damage
Support of root cause analysis and prevention
- Perform critical switching lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safe work setup to support maintenance and contractor activities
- Troubleshoot systems using equipment interfaces and stabilize operations until OEM or specialized support is engaged
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure safe compliant and efficient execution of maintenance and project work
- Support site access escorting and enforcement of safety protocols and procedures
- Assist with equipment evaluations and provide input for contractor scopes of work
Quality Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work meets high standards of workmanship and operational excellence
- Comply with all company client and regulatory requirements including EHS standards
- Identify and report operational risks safety concerns and potential system issues
- Participate in ongoing training and maintain awareness of evolving operational standards
Availability
- Support 24/7/365 operations including on-call responsibilities and emergency response situations
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong commitment to customer service teamwork and accountability
- Excellent communication problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel)
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Visio AutoCAD or similar tools
Education & Experience
- Journeyman-level skills in Electrical Mechanical or HVAC/R disciplines obtained through technical training or equivalent hands-on experience
- 7 10 years of experience in data center operations facility maintenance or building engineering (Tier II IV environments preferred)
- Experience with:
- CMMS systems and work order management
- Vendor and subcontractor coordination
- KPI tracking and reporting
- Capacity planning
- Ability to use hand tools diagnostic equipment and maintenance best practices
- Strong understanding of system operations to stabilize issues until OEM support is available
Certifications
- HVAC certification Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred
