Role Overview
The Manager / Sr. Manager – EHS will be responsible for leading the Environment Health and Safety function at the plant level. The role involves ensuring statutory compliance implementing best-in-class safety practices and driving a proactive safety culture across manufacturing operations in a highly regulated API/chemical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all Environment Health and Safety (EHS) activities for the manufacturing site
- Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements including Factory Act GPCB CPCB PESO and other local authorities
- Implement and monitor Process Safety Management (PSM) systems including HAZOP HIRA risk assessments and safety studies
- Oversee operation and compliance of environmental systems such as ETP STP air pollution control systems and hazardous waste management
- Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through audits inspections and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Conduct incident investigations root cause analysis and ensure effective closure of CAPA
- Lead internal and external audits including ISO 14001 ISO 45001 and support regulatory audits such as USFDA inspections from an EHS perspective
- Develop and implement EHS policies SOPs and standard practices across the plant
- Organize and conduct safety training programs mock drills and awareness initiatives for employees and contractors
- Liaise with regulatory authorities for approvals renewals and compliance submissions
- Monitor key EHS performance indicators and report to senior management
- Ensure contractor safety management and compliance within the plant premises
- Drive a strong safety culture and behavioral safety initiatives across all levels of the organization
