DescriptionJob Summary
The Marriott Development Planning and Feasibility (Feasibility) and Financial Analysis & Strategic Planning (FASP) department inAsia Pacific Excluding China (APEC) is responsible for hotel underwriting valuation brand strategy and business intelligence to support hotel development conversion and renovation/repositioning opportunities for all Marriott lodging products in APEC. The team also provides analytical support and advisory that enables the APEC leadership to make business and strategic decisions that drive overall business results and create the most shareholder value. These economic market business and project evaluations are instrumental to achieving Marriotts expansion goals in new markets and important to the overall long-range growth strategy of the Company.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As an intern of the APEC Feasibility & FASP team the Intern will assist the team with hotel facilities brand standards and financial support and assistance to the Feasibility & FASP team with projects and strategic plans. She/he will provide analytical data gathering and any other required tasks to support to the Manager Feasibility and Manager FASP.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of the teams hotel facilities and financial databases.
- Support the development and creation of dashboards and reporting tools to improve data visualization and insights.
- Assist in performing financial and analytical analysis for hotel valuation financial assessments and investment evaluations.
- Conduct market research and support the assessment of potential projects through hotel facility reviews and financial projections.
- Perform analysis using Excel and other relevant analytical tools create/format presentation decks using PowerPoint and write
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested
JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
You should be a high-potential intern who is passionate committed and keen to establish a career in the hospitality industry with the following attributes:
- Positive attitude enthusiasm and eagerness to learn
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment
- Diligent meticulous responsible analytical numerical and organized
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ideally relevant work experience working at hotel operators or owners
- Familiarity with facilities and financial concepts in hospitality is a plus (e.g. hotel room mix F&B seat count RevPAR GOP Margins etc.)
- Ability to organize and interpret financial information and present analytical results in manner appropriate for decision-making
- Pursuing a Bachelor degree
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and strong report-writing capability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
- Experience with Microsoft Power tools (PowerQuery Power BI Power Automate) or other data processing/visualization tools ideal
- Gain insights into how the team assesses new build and conversion hotel projects
- Experience how the team improve analytical capabilities with the use of data
- Understand thinking behind business objectives and strategic plans to achieve objectives
- Learn how the organizations financial analysis and strategic planning projects
- Expanding knowledge about the hospitality industry in the Asia Pacific region
