SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
A School Summer Youth Staff member plays a vital role in organizing supervising and facilitating summer programs activities and events for children and teens in a school or community setting. They help create a safe engaging and positive environment by assisting in the planning and execution of educational recreational and enrichment activities. Responsibilities include supervising participants leading group activities ensuring adherence to program rules and fostering positive interactions among students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with Youth Enrichment Programs Manager or Youth Enrichment Coordinator daily before the start of the shift
- Follow all District program and building health and safety procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of children and families.
- Be a positive role model and leader to staff and students
- Lead recreation time with students after lunch.
- Other duties as assigned by the Youth Enrichment Programs Manager.
- Assist with lunch transition to the main gym.
- Care for program materials and resources.
- Support direct instruction to students individually in small groups and in classroom settings
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of practices techniques and fundamentals of youth enrichment programming and services teaching principles techniques and procedures.
- Understanding of child development theories and development stages and needs.
- Fundamentals of work coordination and delegation.
- Comprehension of behavioral management practices and fundamentals.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Implementing behavioral management practices.
- Dealing with children staff parents administrators and building personnel concerning issues and activities. Interactions require the explanation of program operational rules and working with others to gain cooperation and understanding of educational issues/needs.
